Rolling Thunder Ride 2010 "UPDATE"

Postby Hooz on Thu Jan 21, 2010 7:48 am

Triad Chapter, just seeing if anyone might be interested in attending Rolling Thunder this Memorial Day weekend. Jane and I went last year and it was the best trip we have ever taken and a very emotional one also. This is the posting from the Loudoun, VA chapter which hosts this every year. Click on the link for details and rates. If you would like to go let me know and maybe we can get a group together for this. We would leave early on Friday morning and return on Monday, Memorial Day. UPDATE. Here is a link to You Tube that has several movies of Rolling Thunder so you can see just how big this really is. It is awesome to be in a parking lot with 500,000 other motorcycles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lMzZNIw9KY

Hi eveyone -

Our 2010 SCRC Rolling Thunder website is up and running!

http://www.scrcloudoun.com/rt/index.html

Here you can find all the information you need to plan your SCRC Rolling Thunder weekend from Friday, May 28 through Sunday, May 30 in the Virginia/Maryland/D.C. area.

We have planned a Meet & Greet for Friday night, rides galore during the day and our cookout at night on Saturday and, of course, the ride into D.C. on Sunday to participate in the Rolling Thunder demonstration.

We have blocked hotel rooms from Thursday, May 27 to Monday, May 31 for your convenience and that information can be found on the website.

Just as a reminder, the Rolling Thunder organization considers the ride through D.C. on Sunday to be a demonstration not a parade. Here is the mission statement of Rolling Thunder, Inc.:

"The major function of Rolling Thunder, Inc. is to publicize POW-MIA issues: To educate the public that many American prisoners of war were left behind after all previous wars and to help correct the past and to protect future veterans from being left behind should they become prisoners of war-missing in action."

As long as I don't need a Harley, I might be able to go.

Just got my reservations today at THe Suburban. I do believe that thier desk staff might be on crack. I called first and couldn't get nowhere with the knucklehead so I just got on the computer and made my reservation.
